9.00 am Royal Grand Palace & Emerald Buddha ; this Bangkok landmark which features some of the most spectacular architecture in South East Asia, should be the first place on a visitor's itinerary. The palace, begun in 1782, consists of several building with highly decorated architectural details. The magnificient Royal chapel, Wat Phra Kaew, which is in the same compound, houses the Emerald Buddha, the most sacred Buddha image in Thailand.

The Grand Palace is the official royal residence in Bangkok, it has an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by  beautiful cascade walls built in 1782. The length of the four walls is 1,900 metres. Within the walls of the Grand Palace are government offices as well as the Chapel Royal  and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha with their amazing Thai architecture that has been printed on many a postcard.
